Early Life
Dustin Johnson was born on June 22, 1984, in Columbia, South Carolina. He began playing golf at an early age and was taught by his father who was a golf instructor. He attended Coastal Carolina University and played for their golf team from 2002 to 2007. During his college career, he won six collegiate tournaments and was named the Big South Conference Player of the Year three times.
After graduating from college, Johnson decided to turn professional and join the PGA Tour in 2008. His first year on the Tour was very successful as he earned two top-10 finishes in his first four events. He would go on to win his first PGA Tour event in 2009 at Turning Stone Resort in New York. Since then he has gone on to win 13 more PGA Tour events including a major championship at the 2016 U.S Open.
In addition to winning multiple PGA Tour events, Johnson has also been named to several Ryder Cup teams and represented Team USA in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro where he won a gold medal with teammate Matt Kuchar.
